Frames of Mind is committed to providing sustainable custom picture framing design by offering several moulding lines from manufacturers that use FSC certified wood. We offer moulding that is verified sustainable American hardwood with eco-friendly finishes. These mouldings are manufactured in the United States, promoting not only a smaller carbon footprint by not being shipped from other countries, but they also provide employment opportunities here in the USA. Frames of Mind takes advantage of technology to reduce the use of paper. We recently added an automated POS system and visualization system to eliminate the printing of multiple work orders. We utilize email for delivery of information to our customers which saves paper and ink. Our Wizard mat cutting system eliminates errors and allows us to make the most of each piece of matboard. We use CFL bulbs and tube lights wherever practical. We are strong proponents of recycling. We use leftover moulding, glass and mats to create small ready-made frames. We reuse and recycle kraft paper, and the glass separation paper sheets. We reuse cardboard, bubble wrap and Styrofoam packing that we take in. We ask our customers to recycle the packaging we use on their purchases. Our printer paper is from recycled sources. We order our metal frames "chopped" to size which eliminates aluminum scrap. We donate our matboard and foamboard scraps to a local children’s agency to use for art supplies and promote creativity. We will donate our scrap glass to artists.
